Punjab Group of Colleges
Punjab Group has been espousing the cause
of education for the last twenty-four years. In 1985, the Islamic
Commerce Educational Society (ICES) was registered and it
established its first college by the name of Punjab College of
Commerce in Lahore. Few years later, it was followed by Punjab Law
College. After successfully branching out into several other cities
of the Province, the Group came to be known as 'Punjab Group of
Colleges' (PGC).
In 1991, Punjab College of Business
Administration (PCBA) was established. It was followed by Punjab
Institute of Computer Sciences (PICS), Lahore, in 1993. In less than
five years, both the institutions emerged as schools of high repute,
specializing in training individuals as successful professional managers
and computer scientists. Within the last two decades, Punjab Group has
established 74 colleges and 40 school campuses throughout Punjab.
Punjab Group also runs two Chartered
Universities which have already made their mark. Muhammad Ali Jinnah
University (MAJU) in Karachi was granted degree-awarding status by the
Government of Sindh in 1998, and maintains campuses at Karachi and
Islamabad, both recognized by the Higher Education Commission of
Pakistan. The University of Central Punjab (UCP) was established in
1999. In 2002, it earned the distinction of becoming the first
degree-awarding University, in the private sector of Punjab.
