Bachelor of Science In Electrical Engineering - B.Sc (EE)
Total Credits: 135 sch. CGPA Requirement for Degree 2.0 or more.
Eligibility for Admission
F.Sc (Pre-Engineering)/ A' Level* (Math, Physics & Chemistry) with at least 60% marks.
Diploma in Associate Electrical/Electronic Engineering with at least 60% marks (for Electrical Engineering)
Diploma in Associate Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% mark (for Mechanical Engineering)
*A-Level students will have to submit equivalence certificate issued by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad.
Admission to each program is granted strictly on merit which is determined on the basis of marks obtained in the following examinations:
HSSC - A-Levels/ Equivalent Exam Results - 70% weightage for determining the eligibility.
Entry Test - This test has 30% weightage and is considered for eligibility only.
Final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the last examination.
NOTE: The merit and waiting lists are posted on the website and the notice board of Faculty. Admission letters to the successful applicants are issued and the fees are to be paid within the specific date.
Road Map for B.Sc Electrical Engineering Program
Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA-Ships)
Teaching assistantships (GTA-ships) are
available on a limited basis. GTA duties and scheduled hours will vary from course to course. TA must not be availing any other scholarship simultaneously.
Financial Aid (undergraduate Programs)
The Faculty of Engineering offers limited number of merit scholarships on the basis of academic excellence in examinations held by the respective Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education and the University. Eligibility for merit scholarships is determined
on the basis of marks obtained in Intermediate Examinations. A Level students are considered for merit scholarship on the basis of their merit as determined through the Equivalence Certificate issued by IBCC.
Fee Concessions on tuition fee are also offered to: PGC Alumni 25% & Kinship 25%.
These fee concessions are continued in the following semester if CGPA is higher than 3.5 as specified by the UCP management with a minimum workload of 15 credits (or 5 courses) in a semester.
Outstanding students securing a good CGPA during the studies are encouraged by providing scholarships. The amount of scholarship varies in each semester. However, 25% to 75% tuition fee can be waived based on a criteria determined by the management of UCP provided the respective student does not default on discipline, attendance, etc. and the condition for workload mentioned above are fulfilled.
Facilities Available at the Faculty
The Main Library has more than 6000 books related to Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. This collection is expected to increase further, as the books are purchased on regular basis. The Library has been automated by applying the Library Information and Management Systems (LIMS). This enables the students to search the desired books/magazines etc. online. The return of books is also automated.
Digital Library has more than 5000 e-books related to engineering discipline. These books can be down loaded by staff & students.
Electrical Engineering Labs
Data Communication Networking & CISCO Laboratory
UCP hosts a CISCO Regional Networking Academy, where students are given both theoretical and hands-on training up to the CCNA level. This Networking Academy has instructors trained from the Cisco Academy Training Center, London, UK and the students who complete the training are issued official certificate from Cisco System, USA, which is recognized and accepted worldwide. Students carry out practical work related to computer Communication Networking in this Lab.
Computer Engineering Laboratory
The Computer Engineering Laboratory has a network of the latest computers, CAD software, and FPGA development systems to give students hands-on hardware design experience. The lab supports design of digital circuits and the applications pertaining to microprocessors. This Lab is furnished with the state of the art equipment. The lab has been upgraded recently.
Electrical Engineering Laboratory
This Electrical Engineering laboratory is well equipped with modern digital and analog electronic measuring instruments. The Lab has all the resources which provide an insight into the field of electrical engineering. It also facilitates students to develop a keen interest towards electrical engineering and to enhance their skill by developing small projects based on their learning. The practical work for the subjects of Basic Electrical Engineering, Network Analysis and Measurements and Instrumentation is carried out in this laboratory.
Electrical Machines Laboratory
This lab has facilities to perform experiments
related to DC machines, Transformers and
Induction machines. Three new test benches
have been added to this lab and the work stations have increased to ten. Every equipment test related to the undergraduate course work can be performed in this lab.
Electronics Engineering Laboratory
The Electronics Engineering Laboratory is well equipped with the state of the art digital and analog instruments. The Lab supports the practical work for electronics and digital logic design. The students learn the use of electronic instruments.
Telecommunication Engineering Lab has 10 workstations equipped with the latest analog & digital test and measuring instruments, Radar Communication trainers, Electro optic trainers and Telecommunication trainer. Experiments relating to AM & FM Modulation, Demodulation, Digital Optical Communication, Data Communication, etc. can be performed. This laboratory is being expanded on regular basis so that students can learn all about the current telecommunication techniques and technologies.
Power Engineering Laboratory
A state of the art power engineering lab has recently been established to provide training in the following areas: I) Generation II) Transmission III) Protection IV) Distribution.
Microwave & Communication Systems Engineering Laboratory
The microwave engineering lab is well equipped to provide an excellent grounding in basic microwave measurements right from analysis to the design and investigation of complete microwave systems. This lab facilitates students to acquire hands-on hardware design experience and a good insight into the structure of microwave integrated circuits (MIC).
