Recently, Karen Armstrong, a well renowned writer, on a visit to Lahore held a forum at the Governor’s House. Students from University of Central Punjab, Beaconhouse National University and Lahore College for Women University were invites to participate in the forum by the Governor’s House to obtain her insight on many of the dilemmas being faced by Muslims in this day and age.
Karen Armstrong, is the writer of a myriad of highly acclaimed scholarly works which include, The Battle for God: Fundamentalism in Judaism, Islam: A Short History, Faith After September 11th, and Muhammad(PCBH): A Western Attempt to Understand Islam. UCP students, Nauman A. Shahid, Sana Javaid, Khadija Ajmal, Javeria Maqbool and Haroon Jilani accompanied the Pro-Rector, Dr. Fehmida Sultana at this intellectually stimulating occasion.
UCP students engaged in fruitful conversations with Karen Armstrong, which allowed them to understand ways by which the academia can help in eliminating negative connotations that the West has about Islamic faith. During the tea break, Dr. Fehmida Sultana and the students from UCP held a frank discussion with Karen Armstrong and the Governor of Punjab, Lt. General ® Khalid Maqbool on relations between Muslims and the West.
