The Faculty of IT at UCP has initiated state-of-the-art informatics research for improving public health practices across a number of methodological disciplines, particularly health informatics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, machine learning, computer vision, computer science and software engineering. Focus of the research within the Centre is on development of intelligent solutions at undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. levels to support evidence-based healthcare and developing methodologies for utilizing IT and communication to improve the quality of health care.

The Centre, hence, provides an e-infrastructure for health research, connecting a rich variety of investigators (clinical, public health and health services, computer scientists and engineers) with relevant analytical and modelling tools and large-scale aggregations
of data, to establish broad-range medical applications. The ongoing projects include registration and automated analysis of CT images for establishing probable diagnosis and prognosis, and assisting surgeons in pre-surgical planning; statistical modelling of ratio of pathological and normal parenchyma in case of traumatic brain injuries based on mode of injury; automated estimation of extent of infarction in cardiac MRI and its correlation to ejection fraction and non-invasive estimation of healing of fractures in long bones using acoustic signals.
