Dr. Basit Zeshan

Associate Professor, HOD Microbiology

Dr. Basit Zeshan earned PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Nanjing Agricultural University, China and MPhil in Microbiology from Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad. He has designed and evaluated adenovirus vector based recombinant vaccine in ovo first time for Infectious Bronchitis Virus. He was awarded Best International Graduate Award from Nanjing Agricultural University, China in 2010. He is recipient of the Young Scientist Award from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Beijing, China. He has published more than 25 research papers in esteemed peer reviewed National & International Journals and presented papers in more than 20 International Conferences. He is member of American Society for Microbiology (ASM), World Poultry Science Association (Malaysia branch) and Life-long member of Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), Islamabad. His area of research is understanding the molecular basis of resistance in major multidrug resistant microbes. He is developing novel molecular diagnostic assays and modern recombinant vaccines for the diagnosis and prevention of the major infectious diseases.
