Dr. MianHanan Ahmad is the Dean of Faculty of Media and Communication Studies at University of Central Punjab (UCP), Lahore, Pakistan. A PhD in Communication & Culture from York University, Canada, Masters in Mass Communication from University of the Punjab, Lahore, MPhil in U.S. Studies (History & International relation) and MSc. in Defense & Strategic Studies from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Prior to joining UCP, he has worked as Dean of Social Sciences and Head School of Creative Arts, at University of Lahore, Chairperson Department of Media and Mass Communication at University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore and Forman Christian College, Lahore. He has worked on various academic and research positions in a number of national and foreign universities and served in Prime Minister’s Office, Islamabad, too.
Apart from being the member of academic boards of various universities, he is associated with the Canadian Communication Association since 2006, and the member of HEC’s National Curriculum Revision Committee for Media and Mass Communication in 2012 and 2013. He is also approved research supervisor for PhD by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
Dr. Hanan’s areas of interest include, but are not limited to media and foreign policy, media and terrorism, media conflict resolution, media and advocacy, political Communication, women portrayal in media and body image, health and development communication, media and economics and the role of media for social change.
