Dr. Tahir received his B.Sc. Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, and both Masters and PhD degrees in Structural Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. He taught academic courses and supervised research for masters and PhD students in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering at UET, Lahore. He taught courses related to engineering mechanics, strength of materials, structural analysis and design, reinforced concrete mechanics, computer aided analysis and design of buildings and structures and structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. Dr. Tahir has an experience of over 37 years in teaching and consultancy service. He has reviewed over a thousand of structural projects related to buildings and bridges. He has a vast experience of testing materials and structures for strength and stability. His main area of expertise is the development of software for educational applications. He has published over 60 papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is author of MAIL; ‘Matrix Analysis Interpretive Language’ a macro computer language which assists the students of structural engineering during analysis of structures by matrix methods. His current research areas are Finite Element Methods in Engineering,
