Prof. Ghulam Shabir

Prof. Dr. Ghulam Shabir is a retired Professor with 40 yearlong teaching, research and professional experience in the field of Mass Communication and Media Industry. He did his masters in Mass Communication from University of the Punjab, Lahore. During his educational stay at Lahore, Prof. Shabir worked in different media outlets. After getting substantive professional experience, he shifted to Bahawalpur where he joined The Islamia University as a Lecturer. He did his Ph.D. from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under the supervision of an iconic Prof. M.A. Hijazi. Prof. Ghulam Shabir did his post doctorate from University of Surrey, UK. Prof. Shabir served two public sector Universities on various positions for 31 years. During this span of time, he assumed responsibility of Chairman of Department of Mass Communication of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and also executed other assignments of the university. Prof. Shabir was retired as a Professor from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Prof. Shabir also served at the Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan as a Professor and Chairman Department of Communication Studies. He has a vast experience of research as well, as 90 national and international HEC recognized publications are on his credit. He presented numerous research papers in National and International research conferences. Twelve students have been awarded Ph.D. degree under his supervision, in addition to two other students, who have submitted their dissertations for the further process. Above 100 M.Phil. Scholars have also been awarded degrees under his supervision. There are numerous BS and MA thesis supervised by him. Majority of his students are working in academic and media industry in Pakistan and also in abroad. Prof. Shabir believes in his motto is “teaching is preaching” and therefore, he did not stop his mission after retirement. He served in BNU as a Professor for over a year and recently he has joined as a Professor the Faculty of Media and Communication Studies in University of the Central Punjab, Lahore.
