Interest Free Emergency Loan

Interest Free Emergency Loan

COVID-19 is a pandemic that has gripped not only Pakistan, but the entire world. It has threatened lives, and has caused small businesses and daily wagers such as laborers, electricians, plumbers, janitors, domestic helpers and many others to lose their sole source of income.

Akhuwat and Dunya Foundation have launched the Akhuwat-Dunya Interest Free Emergency Loan which aims to reignite the spirit of Mawakhat during these testing times. Mawakhat implies that one person takes the responsibility of another person or one household takes the responsibility of another household, thereby making him or them an integral part of his or their own family. Through this fund, we hope to help our country’s daily and monthly wagers who have been severely affected during the COVID-19 lockdown.

There are several ways through which you may contribute and donate to the fund. The government cannot reach out to every city, town and block, knock on the door and deliver food. But we can be that good neighbour who can ensure this with ease by adopting the principles of Mawakhat. In addition to helping your neighbor in need, you can opt for Loan to Needy (L2N) which gives you the option to select a city of your choice and the number of families you would like to help. Your donation will be disbursed as interest free loan to the selected number of families in your selected city. You can contribute up to 10,000 PKR per family for as many families as you wish in one city or more. You can also donate to Doner to Fund (D2F) and your desired amount will be pooled into the Emergency Loan Fund set up by Akhuwat in collaboration with Dunya Foundation. Through its database of over 800 branches in Pakistan, Akhuwat’s team would list the affected families to whom the loan will be disbursed.

Once the lockdown is lifted, the borrowers will pay back the loan to Akhuwat and the amount would then be re-circulated to help others in need. To learn more about the process and to donate visit https://akhuwat.org.pk/.
