University of Central Punjab, Johar Town, Lahore. View mapUCP’s Business School organized an industrial visit for students and faculty to the production facility of Hawks Engineering Services (Pvt), one of the leading suppliers to country’s Big-3 car manufacturers.
With a product portfolio of more than 20 critical parts for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) like Honda, Indus Motors (Toyota) and Pak Suzuki. Hawksstayin an important position in the domestic automotive value chain. Company’s director Dr. ShehryarShahid and Senior Operations Manager, Mr. Haroon Ahmad welcomed the group from UCP. They delivered an informative introductory presentation about the evolution of the automotive manufacturing sector in Pakistan.
The hosts also shared their valuable insights in terms of prospects as well as threats for the indigenous sector, especially in the backdrop of CPEC’s geostrategic and economic impacts. The students were then taken for a complete round trip of the manufacturing facility where they had the opportunity to interact with line managers and see production operations closely.A debriefing session afterward over refreshments helped students and faculty get answers to their questions regarding the company’s processes and practices. The visit significantly contributed towards participants’ understanding of supply chain management, HR issues in SMEs and production management practices in Pakistan.
