View mapA thoughtful lecture was delivered by Dr. Naila Sahar on “Reimaging Muslim Women: Gendered Religious Life and Resistance in the Age of Islamophobia”. She is a Fulbright Scholar and did her PhD from State University of New York, Buffalo. Currently, she is serving as Assistant Professor in UMT. The lecture was attended by the faculty members, and students of MPhil/MS Applied Linguistics and English Literature.
The invited guest shared her work and experiences in light of her PhD dissertation. Her emphasis was on the projection of women’s agency and empowerment in today’s western world where there is a wave of Islamophobia. The students showed a keen interest in the talk and actively participated in the discussion. At the end of the event, Dr. Naila Sahar was presented souvenir by Dr. Asim Karim as a token of thanks.
